The biggest competitor to standalone engagement software is performance management software that includes engagement surveys, per the category research. Buying both in one contract means one vendor and one data model. The tradeoff is analytical depth, since bundled modules usually trail purpose-built platforms.

Alternative categories and vendors

Lattice, 15Five and Leapsome all pair engagement surveys with reviews, goals and one-on-one tools. Lattice adds engagement for $4 per seat on top of modules such as Performance at $10, and a full stack reaches $27 per seat. 15Five's Total Platform is $16 per user per month. Leapsome connects engagement with compensation and learning on quote-based pricing that third-party reviews say starts around $3 per user per month (estimated).

HR platforms are another route. HiBob includes engagement surveys, pulse checks and eNPS inside its HR system, going further than most HRIS tools but not as deep as Culture Amp or Peakon. Enterprises with people analytics teams can move up to Qualtrics, which covers 360 and DEI programs as well as engagement, or to Peakon if they already run Workday.

Frequently asked questions

When is standalone engagement software still the better buy?

When engagement measurement is a strategic priority with its own budget and an owner who can act on the findings. Culture Amp is built for that case, with benchmarking and driver analysis that the bundled modules in Lattice or HiBob do not match.
