Cookies and tracking
Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies PeopleOpsClub uses, what they do, and how you can control them.
By continuing to use PeopleOpsClub, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this policy. You can withdraw or adjust this consent at any time using the methods described below.
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as your preferences, session state, or how you arrived at the page — and can be read on subsequent visits.
Similar technologies include local storage (browser-based data storage), session storage, pixels (small image files that record events), and fingerprinting scripts. This policy covers all such technologies used on PeopleOpsClub.
Cookies can be 'first-party' (set by PeopleOpsClub directly) or 'third-party' (set by external services we integrate with, such as analytics providers). They can also be 'session' cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or 'persistent' cookies (stored for a set period).
Essential cookies
Essential cookies are required for the site to function correctly. They cannot be disabled without breaking core site functionality.
These include session management cookies that maintain your browsing session as you navigate between pages; security cookies that protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and similar attacks; and load balancing cookies used by our hosting infrastructure to route your requests efficiently.
Essential cookies do not collect personal information and are not used for tracking or marketing purposes. No consent is required for essential cookies under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Analytics and performance cookies
We use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use PeopleOpsClub — which pages they visit, how long they stay, where they came from, and what actions they take. This helps us improve editorial content, page structure, and the overall research experience.
Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics (Universal Analytics and/or GA4) to collect aggregated usage data. Google Analytics sets cookies including _ga (expires after 2 years), _gid (expires after 24 hours), and _gat (expires after 1 minute). These cookies assign an anonymised identifier to your device and track sessions and page views. IP addresses are anonymised before storage. Google may process this data on servers outside the UK and EEA; this transfer is governed by Standard Contractual Clauses. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Internal performance tracking: We may use additional first-party analytics to measure CTA click-through rates, scroll depth, and conversion events on specific pages. This data is aggregated and not linked to individually identifiable visitors.
Marketing and attribution cookies
Attribution cookies track how visitors arrive at PeopleOpsClub — for example, from a search engine, a paid advertisement, a social media post, or a referral link. This helps us understand which channels are most effective and how to allocate editorial and marketing investment.
UTM parameters: Where you arrive via a tagged link (containing utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign parameters), these values may be stored in a first-party cookie for the duration of your session to attribute your visit to the correct source.
Advertising pixels: If we run paid advertising campaigns, we may use platform pixels (such as Google Ads, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or Meta Pixel) that set cookies on your device to measure ad conversions and build retargeting audiences. These pixels are set by third parties and are subject to their respective privacy policies. You can manage your preferences for these platforms through their ad settings.
Third-party cookies set by embedded content
Certain pages on PeopleOpsClub may embed content from third parties — such as video players, interactive tools, or external widgets. When these are loaded, the third party may set their own cookies on your device independently of PeopleOpsClub.
We endeavour to minimise third-party cookie exposure by loading embeds only where necessary. Where possible, we use privacy-preserving embed configurations (such as YouTube's enhanced privacy mode).
PeopleOpsClub links to external software vendor sites. Following these links may result in the destination site setting its own cookies; this is outside our control and covered by their respective cookie policies.
Cookies used on this site
_ga — Google Analytics — Persistent (2 years) — Assigns an anonymised user identifier to distinguish unique visitors for analytics.
_gid — Google Analytics — Session (24 hours) — Stores and counts page views for the current session.
_gat — Google Analytics — Short (1 minute) — Rate limiting for Google Analytics requests.
lead_popup:dismissed / lead_popup:submitted — First-party — Persistent (14 days to 1 year) — Records whether a lead capture popup has been dismissed or submitted, to prevent it reappearing unnecessarily.
Session cookies — Infrastructure — Session — Maintain site functionality during your visit and are deleted when you close your browser.
Managing your cookie preferences
Browser settings: All modern browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies. You can usually find these settings under Privacy, Security, or Site Settings in your browser menu. Blocking all cookies will impair site functionality including session management.
Google Analytics opt-out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) to prevent your data from being sent to Google Analytics across all sites you visit.
Advertising opt-outs: You can opt out of interest-based advertising from Google via myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy, from Meta via your Facebook Ad Preferences, and from LinkedIn via your LinkedIn account settings.
Third-party opt-out platforms: The Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info) and the Network Advertising Initiative (optout.networkadvertising.org) provide opt-out tools for participating advertising networks.
Do Not Track: PeopleOpsClub currently does not respond to browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals because there is no agreed industry standard for how sites should honour them. We recommend using the specific opt-out mechanisms described above.
Cookie consent and withdrawing consent
Where required under PECR or applicable law, we request your consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting cookies from your browser and declining consent on your next visit to the site.
Please note that withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that took place before you withdrew it.
Changes to this policy
We review and update this Cookie Policy whenever we add, change, or remove cookies or tracking technologies from the site. The updated date at the top of this page reflects the most recent review. We recommend checking periodically if you are concerned about how your data is tracked.
