SimpleVMS Review: A Vendor-Funded VMS for Light Industrial and Clerical Staffing
SimpleVMS is a vendor management system for employers that use several staffing agencies, built by staffing industry veterans and run from the US. Since 1 August 2023 it has been a division of Avionté, a staffing and recruiting software company, with founder Jason Oswald staying on as president of SimpleVMS.
Its defining trait is the funding model. Suppliers pay for the system, and SimpleVMS advertises zero setup fees and no long-term contracts for the client, with most customers live in under six weeks.
The verdict
I would recommend SimpleVMS to a mid-size manufacturer, distributor or retailer that uses several temp agencies for warehouse, production or clerical shifts and is drowning in separate timesheets and invoices. That is the clerical and light industrial base the Avionté acquisition announcement described, and named customers such as American Greetings and Ulta fit the pattern.
It is not a tool for a global SOW-heavy program. The features page covers job orders, timekeeping, consolidated invoicing, reporting and compliance, and says nothing about statements of work, services procurement or multi-country operations. SimplifyVMS, Coupa or Workday VNDLY are built for that.
The Avionté ownership cuts both ways. Requisitions from SimpleVMS now flow into the AviontéBOLD ATS used by staffing agencies, which Avionté says cut time-to-fill sharply for one agency in testing. Agencies on other ATS platforms get less of that benefit, and buyers should check SimpleVMS still treats all suppliers equally; Avionté describes it as vendor-neutral.

Who it suits
Mid-size and larger US employers with clerical and light industrial temp labor across a few sites, where hourly workers clock in and the main pain is reconciling time and invoices from several agencies.
It also suits companies that have never had a VMS and cannot get a software budget approved: because suppliers fund it, the decision is operational rather than a capital or subscription request. Once a program adds consulting SOWs, European sites or a formal MSP, expect to move to SimplifyVMS, Pixid VMS Pro or Magnit.
What it does differently
No other product in this group is supplier-funded with no client setup fee. It is also the only VMS here owned by a staffing-agency software company, which gives it a direct data path into the recruiters' ATS at Avionté agencies.
Timekeeping is built in rather than integrated from a third party, with AI Photo Time, web punching, telephone clock-in and system upload options.
How it gets bought
Commercially it is the easiest purchase in this category: no license fee to budget, no long contract and a pilot first. Enterprises with procurement-led programs, SOW spend or global sites will outgrow it.
