Best Zoho People Alternatives
Zoho People alternatives for SMBs that want built-in US payroll, clearer published pricing, or deeper performance and benefits tools.
Zoho People handles records, approvals and onboarding, but plan depth varies and the features you get depend on the tier. Buyers who need payroll, benefits or strong performance management in the same product often move to a broader HRIS. Pricing that has to be confirmed with the vendor also slows budget planning.
Zoho People and its alternatives at a glance
| Tool | Best for | Starting price |
|---|---|---|
| Zoho People (current) | Zoho-suite SMBs automating leave and approval workflows | Quote-based |
| BambooHR | First-time HRIS buyers at 25 to 300 employees | $10 PEPM |
| Gusto | US small businesses wanting published payroll pricing and 50-state tax filing | $49/mo + $6 PEPM |
| Rippling | Tech-forward firms tying HR, IT devices and finance together | Quote-based (est. ~$8 PEPM + $35–$40/month base) |
Companies already on Zoho CRM, Books or Recruit keep the most by staying, since the apps share one account and data. Firms outside the Zoho suite should compare what each tier covers before comparing prices. Export employee records and leave balances before the move.

Questions buyers ask
Why do small businesses move off Zoho People?
Usually to get payroll and benefits in one system, or because the plan they bought lacks the automation they expected. Zoho People is strongest for teams already using other Zoho apps.
