Senior Sistemas Review: Brazilian HCM Built Around Payroll and Ponto

Senior Sistemas is a Blumenau, Santa Catarina software company founded in 1988 that reports more than 13,000 clients. Its Gestão de Pessoas (HCM) line covers payroll, electronic timekeeping, recruiting, digital admission, training, compensation and climate surveys, sold next to its ERP and logistics products.

Payroll is the centre of gravity. Senior says it processes 9.3 million payslips a year, about 20% of Brazil's CLT payrolls, and that 200 million eSocial submissions pass through its software every 12 months.

The verdict

I would treat Senior as the specialist choice for Brazilian HR. Where TOTVS sells HR as part of an ERP, Senior sells people management as a product line in its own right, and the payroll and ponto pages go into the detail that Brazilian HR teams care about: Portaria 671, REP-P, eSocial volumes, eConsignado and LGPD.

The time-tracking side is especially complete. Ponto Eletrônico works with the main REP time clocks on the market and with the Wiipo app, which records clock-ins with facial recognition (individual or group mode), geolocation or QR code, and keeps working offline. For companies with field teams or sites with poor connectivity, that offline mode matters.

Senior is also adding AI in a practical way: the Sara Corporativa assistant handles employee self-service, and Senior says its system uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect AI agents such as ChatGPT and Claude to HR data. Treat that as something to test in the demo, not a reason to buy on its own.

Senior also sells ERP and logistics software, but the HCM line does not require them. That makes it a realistic choice for a company that keeps SAP or TOTVS for finance and wants a separate HR vendor with deeper Brazilian labour coverage.

The limits are geography and price transparency. It is built for Brazilian law, and nothing is priced publicly.

Where Senior Sistemas fits

Who it suits

Brazilian mid-sized and large employers (Senior's own pages say médio e grande porte) with complex time-and-attendance rules, several sites or field workforces, and sectors Senior targets such as agribusiness, retail, construction, manufacturing and logistics. The pharmacy chain Panvel, with about 7,000 employees, is one published payroll customer.

Look elsewhere if your finance team runs TOTVS and wants payroll postings inside the same ERP, if you employ fewer than a few dozen people, or if Brazil is one country among many in a group that has already chosen a global HCM. In those cases TOTVS RH, a lighter local payroll service or the group's own system will usually be simpler.

What it does differently

Scale in Brazilian payroll is the differentiator. A vendor that says it handles a fifth of the country's CLT payrolls has seen most edge cases in eSocial, terminations and union agreements. Few HR vendors outside Brazil publish anything comparable, and TOTVS positions its HR as part of an ERP rather than as a standalone HCM.

How it gets bought

Good fit for Brazilian HR departments that want a specialist HCM, whether or not they use Senior's ERP. Poor fit for very small businesses, which Senior's HCM pages do not target, and for companies needing payroll outside Brazil.

Companies with high hourly headcount, several shifts and union-negotiated overtime rules get the most from Senior, because that is where ponto accuracy and payroll accuracy depend on each other.

Senior Sistemas pricing: what drives an HCM quote

Senior quotes every deal. The price depends on the modules (payroll, ponto, recruiting, training, compensation), headcount, time-clock hardware and whether you use Senior Cloud or your own infrastructure.

Because ponto and payroll are often bought together, ask for them priced both as a bundle and separately. Some companies keep an existing time-clock supplier and only move payroll.

Hosting and infrastructure

Senior Cloud and Senior's IT infrastructure services are sold as separate offerings. Clarify whether the quote includes hosting, backups and upgrades, or only licences.

Hardware and the Wiipo app

If you already own REP clocks, confirm compatibility before buying new ones. If staff will clock in on phones through Wiipo, ask how the app is licensed per employee.

Moving from another payroll

Most Senior buyers are replacing an existing Brazilian payroll. Ask how historical eSocial events, vacation balances and termination records are migrated, and whether parallel runs are included in the implementation fee.

Senior HCM features: folha, ponto and talent

Folha de Pagamento

Automated payroll for large headcounts, with vacation, 13th salary and simplified termination processing, digital payslips (holerite) and integration with accounting.

eSocial and Compliance Hub. Tracks eSocial obligations and flags pending items before deadlines.

eConsignado. Handles payroll-deductible loans for employees.

Ponto Eletrônico

Time tracking aligned with Portaria 671 of the Ministry of Labour, including REP-P, with data feeding payroll and eSocial.

Wiipo app. Clock-in with facial recognition, geolocation or QR code, online or offline.

Time clocks. Integrates with the main REP time clocks on the Brazilian market.

Admissão Digital and recruiting

Recrutamento e Seleção is an applicant tracking system, and Admissão Digital moves new-hire paperwork online so the admission data arrives in payroll and eSocial without being typed twice. For companies hiring in volume, such as retail and agribusiness, this is where much of HR's admin time goes.

Pesquisa de Clima. Employee climate surveys run inside the same HCM.

Gestão de Remuneração. Job and salary structures for compensation planning.

Talent and AI

Recruiting, digital admission, training and development, compensation and climate surveys complete the HCM line. The Sara Corporativa assistant answers employee requests.

MCP connection. Senior says the system uses MCP to connect AI agents, naming ChatGPT and Claude.

LGPD. Data-protection features aligned with Brazil's LGPD.

Senior Sistemas pros and cons

Strengths

  • Large Brazilian payroll footprint

9.3 million payslips a year and 200 million annual eSocial submissions, according to Senior, give it wide exposure to Brazilian payroll cases.

  • Portaria 671 time tracking with offline app

Ponto Eletrônico complies with Portaria 671 and REP-P, integrates with REP clocks, and the Wiipo app does facial recognition online and offline.

  • Full talent cycle

ATS, Admissão Digital, training, compensation and climate surveys come from the same vendor as payroll.

  • Payroll extras Brazilian HR teams ask for

eConsignado payroll-loan integration, a Compliance Hub for pending items and alerts, and LGPD controls on personal data.

Limitations

  • Brazil only

Payroll logic and compliance are Brazilian. Subsidiaries abroad need other providers.

  • No public pricing

Every module is quoted, so early budgeting depends on the sales team.

  • Aimed at mid-sized and larger firms

Senior's HCM marketing targets médio e grande porte companies. A 20-person business will likely find it heavier than it needs.

  • AI features are new

The Sara Corporativa assistant and the MCP connection to outside AI agents are recent additions. Check what data the agents can read and how access is controlled under LGPD before switching them on.

Senior Sistemas is a Brazilian vendor founded in 1988 in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, reporting 13,000+ direct clients across Brazil and Latin America. Its HCM line covers payroll, electronic timekeeping and recruitment next to ERP and logistics products, and it runs in the cloud or on-premise. Senior quotes each deal individually, and the product is built for the Brazilian market.

Getting the most from a Senior demo

Senior sells directly and through channels across Brazil. Expect a scoping call before any demo.

  1. Bring a list of your union agreements and shift patterns to the demo, because the value of Senior's payroll and ponto shows up in how it handles those rules.
  2. Test the Wiipo app offline at one of your real sites, since offline facial recognition is one of the main reasons to pick Senior's time tracking.
  3. Ask for a reference customer with a similar headcount in your sector, as Senior's published examples range from cooperatives to a 7,000-employee retail chain.
  4. Clarify hosting and support in the contract, because Senior Cloud and infrastructure services are sold separately from software licences.
